The second CD from the New York orchestra Ochún combines beautiful traditional Cuban music (guaguanco, son, chachacha) with salsa dura. 

This is exactly that which is always so fascinating about salsa: rather than unsuccessfully mixing styles, it is a skillful synthesis of musical elements. 

The CD captivates its listener with different tempos, the supercool singing of Miguel Garcia, a top band, booming salsa duras, slow chachachas and a beautiful son.   

Whenever I hear such CDs, it becomes clear to me that life is too short to listen to bad salsa.

In short: "En el Ano de Ochún" is a top CD.

Die zweite CD vom New Yorker Orchester Ochún verbindet wunderschön kubanische Musiktradition (Guaguanco, Son, Chachacha) mit Salsa Dura.
Das ist genau das, was an Salsa immer wieder fasziniert: Nicht das gegeneinander Ausspielen von Stilen, sondern die gekonnte Synthese der musikalischen Elemente.
Die CD besticht durch verschiedene Tempi, dem supercoolen Gesang von Miguel Garcia, einer Top-Band, klapprigen Salsa Duras, langsamen Chachachas und einem wunderschönen Son.

Immer, wenn ich solche CDs höre, wird mir klar, dass das Leben zu kurz ist, um schlechte Salsa zu hören.
